Account & Data Deletion

1. How to Request Deletion

To request deletion of your Wonay account and all associated personal data, send an email to dev@wonay.app with the following:

• Subject line: Account Deletion Request
• Body: The email address associated with your Wonay account

We will verify your identity against the account record before processing the request. Verification is required to prevent fraudulent or accidental deletion of another user's account. Once verified, we will process the deletion within 30 calendar days and send a confirmation email when complete.

2. What Gets Deleted

Upon verified request, Wonay will permanently delete the following data associated with your account within 30 calendar days:

• Account credentials — your email address and password hash
• Username and display name
• Your complete comment history across all URLs
• Your votes — both comment votes and URL approval votes
• Your view history — records of URLs you visited through Wonay
• Your achievement records and badge data
• All other personal data held in Wonay's Supabase database associated with your account ID

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once your account is deleted, it cannot be recovered.

3. Data Retained After Deletion

Some data derived from your activity may be retained after your account is deleted. This data does not identify you individually and is kept for platform integrity purposes.

Anonymized Aggregate Statistics

URL-level aggregate counts — such as the total number of comments on a page, total view counts, and aggregate approval ratings — are retained indefinitely after your account is deleted. These counts represent the collective activity of many users and cannot be used to identify you individually. Removing them would corrupt the integrity of statistics that other users rely on.

For example: if a URL has 847 total views, that count persists after your individual view record is deleted. The count is not associated with you or your account in the retained data.

4. Device-Local Data

Wonay's My Web tab maintains a history of websites you have visited using the Wonay browser. This data is stored exclusively on your device in local device storage. It is never transmitted to Wonay's servers and is not held in any Wonay database.

Because device-local data is not held on Wonay's servers, it is not subject to the account deletion request process described on this page. You can clear your My Web history at any time directly within the app — navigate to the My Web tab and use the in-app clear history option. No request to Wonay is required and no response time applies.

5. Partial Deletion — Specific Data Only

You do not need to delete your entire account to remove specific data. If you would like to delete individual comments, votes, or other specific records without closing your account, you may do so in two ways:

• In-app deletion: Comments you have posted can be deleted directly from the app or extension at any time using the delete button on your comment. This takes effect immediately.
• Request via email: For any other specific data you wish to remove, email dev@wonay.app with a description of the data and we will process the removal within 30 days.

6. Response Timeline

We aim to acknowledge all deletion requests within 7 business days of receipt. Full deletion is completed within 30 calendar days of identity verification. If a request cannot be fulfilled within 30 days, we will notify you in writing with an explanation and an expected completion date not to exceed 90 calendar days in total.

During the beta period, all requests are handled directly by the founding team. Response times may be faster than the 7-business-day target.
